01.04.2023: Unfollow Slow Style Edition

Departing from the frenetic pace of modern club music, Unfollow draws a line to styles that prioritize a slower, more deliberate approach to rhythm and melody.

Torino-based DJ duo VIBRISSE, who in this edition spell out their love for the infamous Lento Violento genre, Berlin-based sain†, a master at deconstructing club sets centered around fractal beats and epic anthems , Vienna-based Mursal, whose sets reach beyond the rhythmic constructs of western-influenced club music, Aziz Light, who shares an interpretation of Lento by having his own repertoire at hand, and 4Play, serving a cross-genre definition of the notion of slow music, will guide through a magical night of soundscapes, eras and feelings, while rethinking the term slow.

For the next edition, Unfollow invites artists and DJs that share a long way in the viennese underground music scene that goes back years or even decades (but what is time anyway). A bit nostalgic and yet evolving – it’s a ride through foggy nights, organic grooves, rhythmic waves, spoken word and unspeakable worlds. Dedicated to (musical) connections that never end, even though they disappear from the surface from time to time – but what is time anyway.

Unfollow is a newly formed event series that tries to bring together different formats and genres. It moves along the spectrum of live music and DJ sets and wants to create spaces where those approaches can meet. It further plays with the idea of unfollowing and following something, leaving behind the binary structures of affirmation and rather focuses on new modes of listening and participation. unfollow is a collaborative platform that situates itself somewhere in the nowhere – that is where you can start unfollowing.
